Do not use the same names for panels and boards. This is to ensure that software such as datalogging can process the data correctly.
Because the software expands node and device names by adding prefixes to them, choose node and device names that, when expanded, are not longer than allowed. Table 1 shows the number of characters in the prefix that the software adds to the device and node names.

Devices tested with part libraries (e.g. resistor packs) have even more characters added to their device names. Dual-Well Shared Wiring includes additional prefix characters. Take this into consideration when choosing device names.
Table 2 shows the maximum number of characters (including prefix) allowed for device and node names.
