The Medalist i3070 software defines the test development environments for both the Mux and UnMux systems. The developer can choose to use either development environment on a test development workstation. See Choosing the Development Environment for more information.
This section introduces the standard and optional software components available on your Agilent Medalist ICT system. The applications and programming software includes languages for board test development and quality reporting.
Table 3 lists the standard software provided for test development, which depends on your Medalist ICT system platform. Table 4 lists other board test applications and options.
See Overview of Test Development Process which describes the process and explains when and how the various tools are used.
On a test development workstation, you can choose the test environment to use. See Choosing the Development Environment for information on switching test environments.

Develop | - Developer Interface: Provides step-by-step guidance from data entry to test and fixture generation. The test development process is organized into phases and tasks to be completed.
| - Agilent Board Consultant: Guides you through the entry and verification of board data; and helps identify errors and testability problems with the board data.
- Agilent IPG Test Consultant: Provides step-by-step guidance through the test generation and fixture generation processes.
- Agilent Fixture Consultant: Lets you customize the test fixture by editing fixture attributes such as wiring, probe locations, board placement, and fixture electronics.
|
| Other useful tools during test development: - Part Description Editor: Helps you create part description libraries for components such as a resistor pack or multi-chip module.
- Setup Test Editor: Helps you develop VCL setup-only library tests for digital devices.
|
Debug | - Engineer Test Interface: Lets you evaluate, debug, and fine-tune pins and shorts tests, analog in-circuit tests, and Agilent Vectorless Test EP (VTEP) tests. Also includes an AutoDebug utility which automatically debugs unpowered analog in-circuit tests.
- Pushbutton Debug: Quickly debugs digital, analog functional, mixed, and boundary-scan tests.
|
Test | - Operator Interface: A restricted environment that allows an operator to load and run testplans. The Operator interface can be localized and customized.

Application | Description |
---|
Access Consultant | An analysis and advisory tool that allows you to optimize the use of test probes in limited access situations. For details, see Agilent Access Consultant. |
Coverage Analyst | Provides a comprehensive view of the predictive test coverage based on the contents of a board test directory. For details, see Coverage Analyst. |
Boundary Scan | For testing digital devices that comply with IEEE Standard 1149.1. Boundary-scan testing is described in Boundary-Scan Testing. |
ScanWorks | Allows boundary-scan tests and device programs to be written once and leveraged across the product life cycle. For details, see ScanWorks in Boundary-Scan Testing. |
Pushbutton QSTATS | Produces several SQC reports that help you analyze your production process and identify process problems. For details, see Pushbutton Q-STATS. |
Korn Shell | Shell environment for executing UNIX commands on Windows operating systems. |
BT-Basic | Programming environment for editing and manipulating test programs. For details, see BT-Basic Programming. |
Diagnostics | Troubleshooting tool that lets you check the hardware configuration, verify performance, and isolate failures to a field-replaceable unit (FRU). For details, see Diagnostics. |
