Communication between DIAView SCADA and Delta PLC—DVP 12SE through Modbus serial port
The DIAView software supports communicating with devices through the serial port (RTU and ASCII) based on the Modbus communication protocol standard.
Supported devices includes:
• Modicon Modbus RTU
• Modicon Modbus ASCII
• Delta DVP RTU
• Delta DVP ASCII
• Delta AH RTU
• Delta AH ASCII
Example of configuring the DIAView software to perform IO communication with devices through the serial port connection is as follows:
Creating a communication between the DIAView SCADA and Delta PLC—DVP 12SE through serial port
Example 1: Using the “Delta DVP ASCII” driver
■ Step 1: Create the following hardware architecture and set the 12SE COM2 communication port parameters as 9600,7,E,1,ASCII, station 1, as shown in the figure below:
■ Step 2: Right-click on the “IO communication” node in the tree index of the project window and select “Add device”; the menu selection in the figure below will appear:
■ Step 3: Select “Delta DVP” →“Delta DVP ASCII” in the “Driver Selection” window, as shown in the figure below:
■ Step 4: Configure the Delta DVP ASCII communication parameters, as shown in the figure below:
■ Step 5: Click the button to the right of “Basic”→ “Serial port” and open the “Serial port parameter setting” window, as shown in the figure below:
■ Step 6: Set the serial port communication parameters: “9600,7,E,1,ASCII” and set the communication port as COM1 (you can see that the detected currently assigned serial communication port is COM1 in device manager), as shown in the figure below:
■ Step 7: Configure the serial port communication parameters and then click the “OK” button to return to the Delta DVP ASCII communication parameter configuration window.
Set the communication and troubleshooting parameters. The “Device address” must be the same as the PLC station number, therefore set it as “1”.Preset values can be used for the other options, as shown in the figure below:
■ Step 8: Click the “OK” button when all parameters have been configured and the device with the preset name will appear under the “IO communication” node of the project tree index, as shown in the figure below:
■ Step 9: Rename the added IO communication device to “Serial port device” and then the serial port driver communication configuration is complete, as shown in the figure below:
