Yuhuu! I’m back again. So, before I start writing about the trip itself, let me, like usual, start with the preparation and budgeting stuff. There are several differences between my 2017 and 2015 Japan trip. What are those? So this time I already had an e-passport, so yes, I just had to make a visa waiver for free! A few weeks before I issued my visa waiver at the Japanese embassy, I just knew that right now you can no longer issued your visa there. If you have a usual passport, you must go to Japan Visa Application Centre located at Lotte Shopping Avenue to issue your visa, and other than the visa fee, there is also extra IDR 115,000 administration fee. So, yeah, having an e-passport is more profitable.
The second difference is, this time I bought JR pass, since I was planning to use the shinkansen here and there. Bought the 7 days pass at a travel fair for around IDR 3,300,000, and yeah, it was worth every single penny!
Third difference, this trip was a little bit shorter than the first one. I spend 10 nights in Japan, landed at KIX Airport (Osaka) and headed back from Haneda Airport (Tokyo).
Let’s head on to this important part, budgeting!
This will be a mix between IDR and JPY since I choose to pay the accomodation in cash at the place, so better take a good look.
Currency: JPY 1 = IDR 120
Visa: IDR 0 (E-passport + Visa Waiver)
Flight:
Garuda Indonesia
CGK – KIX
HND – CGK
Total: IDR 4,600,000
Accomodation:
– OSAKA: Yadokari Namba Hostel
4 Beds Room, 2 Nights: JPY 32,400
Per Person : JPY 8,100
– KYOTO: K’s House Kyoto
Quadruple Room JPY 16,000
Per Person : JPY 4000
– TOKYO: Nine Hours Shinjuku-North
2 Pods in Female Room, 4 nights – JPY 24,000
Per Person : JPY 12,000
– TAKAYAMA: J-Hoppers Takayama
3 Beds, 1 Nights JPY 10,500
Per Person : JPY 3,500
– TOKYO: Best Hotel, Shin Okubo
Twin Room 2 nights
JPY 15,000 (3 persons)
Per Person : JPY 7,500
Total: JPY 35,100 (IDR 4,212,000)
Many asked, why didn’t I stay at an AirBNB, well it’s just a preference. I find hotels/hostels are more convenience in the way that I can drop my luggage before the check in time. But I think AirBNB is a good choice too considering budget.
Transportation:
JR PASS (7 Days): IDR 3,300,000 (it covers most of my transportation fee)
And since I bought the 7 Day Pass, I still had to pay for the rest of the transportation fee, and for around JPY 6,350 including
Namba Ocat Buss (From KIX): JPY 1,050
Kyoto Bus Pass: JPY 500
Bus to and from Hitachi Seaside Park from Katsuta Station: JPY 800
Total: IDR 4,062,000
Entry Tickets & else:
Tokyo Disneyland: IDR 900,000 (bought at HIS Travel Jakarta)
Hitachi Seaside Park: JPY 410
J-Hoppers Shirakawa Go Half Day Tour: JPY 3,900
B-Mobile Sim Card (5GB/21 Days): JPY 3,480
Total: IDR 1,834,000
Food:
This time, I did record my expenses for food and drinks (though I missed some), and the total amount I spend for food and drinks were around JPY 23,000 for 10 and a half days, just count it as an average of JPY 2300 per day.
Total: IDR 2,760,000
Total spending for 10 Days (not including shopping of course) IDR 17,468,000.
